Orchard & Vineyard Removal

  • On-site Orchard Removal and Vineyard Removal. This includes root removal, piling, mastication, and wood chip spreading.

  • Our specific process is a qualifier SJVAPCD’s program to chip or shred (masticate) in lieu of agriculture burning. Eligible growers can expect up to a $600/acre reimbursement for orchards, $800/acre for cane-pruned vineyards and $1,300/acre for cordon-pruned vineyards (additional $400/acre for small growers).

  • We prioritize the production of appropriately sized wood chips to minimize interference with orchard floor management activities and mitigate potential pathogen risks.

  • Root Removal & Stump Removal: Utilizing our excavator’s specialized root-rake, we efficiently extract roots and stumps from the ground, followed by mastication into small wood chips.

  • Inner-Plant Removal: For growers requiring selective tree removal within orchards, our specialty equipment navigates rows with precision, removing specified trees without harming surrounding viable ones.

  • Additional services include Grafting/Budding Over Trimmings Removal, Diseased Tree Removal, and Attrition Loss Removal, all efficiently executed with our high horsepower equipment, eliminating the need for burn permits, tub grinders, and spreading.

  • Nothing is hauled away, and nothing is left to burn—all work is performed on-site, ensuring a seamless and environmentally conscious process. All work performed on-site.

What is Whole Orchard Recycling (WOR)?

Whole Orchard Recycling, is the on-site mastication (mulching/chipping) of whole trees or vines, typically at the end of their agronomic life cycle and prior to replanting. The proven result is increased productivity of the subsequent replanted orchard and soils while sequestering carbon, reducing Greenhouse Gases emissions, improving soil structure, and increasing water use efficiency.

Advantages of Orchard Recycling:

  • Equal or Improved Tree Growth and Yield

  • Increased Soil Organic Matter

  • Enhanced Soil Fertility

  • Improved Soil Moisture Retention and Infiltration

  • Increased Soil Water Infiltration Rate and Moisture Retention

  • Decreased Soil Compaction and Bulk Densities
